Maddie Williams

Assistant Coach

Head Coach: Shannon Gower

Shannon Gower began her tenure as head softball coach at Texas Wesleyan in 2005.

With 79 wins in her first three seasons at the helm, Gower has proven that she can lead a winning team. In her first season as head coach, she led the Lady Rams to a 28-25 record, a four-game improvement over the 2004 campaign. The team was also .500 (12-12) in Red River Athletic Conference play for the first time since joining the conference. In addition, the Lady Rams reached the semifinals of the RRAC Tournament for the second consecutive season.

In 2006, the Rams got even better, posting a 29-21 record. They were the 2nd-seed in the RRAC Tournament after going 16-8 in conference play. The Lady Rams broke numerous records including their 66 home runs, which was an NAIA record at the time, although it was later broken by the University of Mobile who finished the season with 80. In addition, Gower placed five players on the All-RRAC and All-Region VI teams.

In 2007, the Rams started slow, but rallied to post 22 wins and a 12-12 conference mark.  The team featured a pair of All-RRAC and All-Region VI selections and an Academic All-American in Brooke McNabb.

Gower was a member of the 2002 and 2003 Texas Wesleyan softball teams for whom she was the starting shortstop. She also received the team's 3-D Award in her senior season. Following her senior year, she served as an assistant coach for one season.

Prior to joining the Wesleyans softball team, Gower was a two-year letter winner at Vernon Regional Junior College where she was selected to the Region V All-Star team and was a captain in her sophomore season.

Gower is a graduate of Aledo High School where she was 1st-team All-District in her sophomore, junior, and senior seasons. She was also an All-Parker County selection in her junior season and was named District MVP in her senior season.

She is the daughter of Rodney and Cheryl Gower and currently resides in Arlington.
