TORRES NAMED RRAC P.O.W.

FORT WORTH, TX:  Texas Wesleyan University’s Charlie Torres has been named Red River Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer Co-Player of the Week for the period of September 22-28.  Torres shared the award with Brian Hardie of UT-Brownsville.

Torres, a freshman midfielder from Fort Worth, TX, scored his first collegiate goals this week as the Rams split their first two RRAC tilts of the season.  He booted in one goal in a 3-2 loss to Texas College then accounted for a goal and an assist as the Rams defeated Bacone College (OK), 3-0.  The Rams are 4-3-1 on the season and 1-1 in RRAC play.

Hardie, a junior forward from Corby, England, notched a pair of goals that provided the difference in the Scorpions’ first conference match of the season, a 3-1 victory over HT. He was held scoreless in two other matches against NAIA top 10 teams as UTB moved to 5-4 overall.

The Rams will return to action on Wednesday, October 1, when they travel to San Antonio, TX, to take on Our Lady of the Lake University (3-4-1).  That match is scheduled for a 4:00 p.m. start.
