FORT WORTH, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University women’s soccer team (5-3, 2-0 RRAC) allowed just four shots on goal on their way to a 5-0 win over Bacone College (2-6, 1-1) in Red River Athletic Conference action on Saturday. The Lady Rams have started off their conference scheduled with consecutive shutouts for the first time in program history.
Texas Wesleyan started slowly, but led 2-0 at the half thanks to goals from Alejandra Barrera and Christina Zimmerman in the 37th and 39th minutes.
Barrera scored again in the 53rd minute. Stefanie Blowers headed in Jaimie Romaguera’s corner kick to bring the score to 4-0 in the 63rd minute. Zimmerman capped the scoring with a strike from 35 yards out in the 87th minute.
Brittany O’Brien recorded four saves in her ninth career shutout.
The Rams led 31-7 in shots (14-4 in shots on goal) and 12-1 in corner kicks.
The Lady Rams return to action on Wednesday, October 1, when they travel to San Antonio, TX, to take on Our Lady of the Lake University (7-3-1). That match is scheduled for a 2:00 p.m. start.
