OKLAHOMA CITY, OK: The Texas Wesleyan University men’s soccer team (3-2-1) took a 2-0 defeat at the hands of eighth ranked Oklahoma City University (7-1) on Tuesday.
The Stars got on the board with a goal from Stephen Sheffield in the 12th minute. They scored again just before the half with a goal from Scott Jackson.
The Oklahoma City defense allowed just five shots and Andy Fitzpatrick was there to make three saves.
Joakim Soderbaum made four saves in the net for Texas Wesleyan.
“We just didn’t play as well as we needed to against the eighth ranked team in the country,” commented head coach Josh Gibbs. “We had chances to clear both of their goals, but they deserved to win this one.”
The Rams will begin Red River Athletic Conference play on Thursday, September 25th when they travel to Tyler, TX, to take on Texas College. That game is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. start. |
