FORT WORTH, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University women’s soccer team (2-1) suffered a 5-0 loss at the hands of Texas Woman’s University (1-1) on Tuesday.
Kyli Morgan gave Texas Woman’s the lead off an assist from Jacqueline Horner in the 25th minute. Five minutes later, Chastity Hayter scored and Pioneers went to the break with a 2-0 advantage.
Texas Woman’s put the game away quickly in the second half. Jacqueline Horner scored off an assist from Rebekah Ledet in the 46th minute and Theresa Sanches followed with another tally in the 47th minute. Ledet then found Dani DeCoursin in the 59th minute to bring the score to 5-0.
“We haven’t been very good since the start, and we finally ran into a good team that could expose us,” said head coach Josh Gibbs. “We have a lot of very good players that aren’t a good team yet. We’ve got a lot of work to do.”
The Lady Rams will return to action on Tuesday, September 9, when they host the University of Science & Arts (OK). That game is scheduled for a 5:30 p.m. start at Martin Field.
