FORT WORTH, TX: Texas Wesleyan University’s Brittany O’Brien has been named Red River Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the season opening period of Aug. 25-31.
O’Brien, a senior goalkeeper from Colleyville, TX, allowed just one goal last week as Texas Wesleyan started its season at 2-0. She made two saves in the Lady Rams’ 3-1 victory over McMurry University (TX) and posted a 2-0 shutout over Howard Payne University (TX) with three more saves. The shutout was the seventh of her career.
Elyse James of Southwestern Assemblies of God University (TX) was named Offensive Player of the Week after scoring four goals and assisting on three more in a 1-1 week for the Lions.
The Lady Rams will take on Texas Woman’s University this evening. That game is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m. at Martin Field. |
