MENG, MOCK EARN P.O.W. AWARDS

October 29, 2007

FORT WORTH, TX:  Texas Wesleyan University’s Elizabeth Meng has been selected as Red River Athletic Conference Player of the Week for October 22-28, while Ashley Mock received both the RRAC and Region VI Libero of the Week awards.

Meng, a senior right side hitter from Weatherford, TX, averaged 4.6 kills per game as Texas Wesleyan finished with a 2-3 week through a difficult schedule.  Meng powered 92 kills in all with just 17 errors in 210 total attempts (.357 hitting percentage).  She accounted for 22 kills and 22 digs in a 3-1 win over Southern Nazarene University (OK), and added 21 and 12 in a 3-2 loss to Texas A&M International University.

Meng shared her award with UT-Brownsville’s Talita Milasauskas, a freshman middle blocker from Sao Paulo, Brazil, who propelled UTB to a 4-0 week.

Mock, a senior libero from Azle, TX, is no stranger to weekly awards, winning the conference award for the eighth time this season and the region award for the third time. This time around, she racked up 143 digs in five matches with a high of 40 in a 3-1 loss to Southwestern University. Mock also accounted for 39 in the Lady Rams’ loss to TAMIU. She posted a service percentage of .920 and a reception percentage of .906.

The Lady Rams remain atop the RRAC North Division standings at 9-0 with a mark of 24-14 on the season.  They will return to the court on Saturday, when they play Bacon College at 11:00 a.m. in Muskogee, OK, and then face John Brown University at 5:00 p.m. in Siloam Springs, AR.
