FORT WORTH, TX: Texas Wesleyan Univeristy’s Loren Clark and Holly Rowland have been selected as Red River Athletic Conference Women’s Soccer Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week. The duo shared the awards with UT-Brownsville’s Lena Candia and Christin Resing.
Clark, a senior midfielder from Midlothian, TX, played just one game last week but made the most of it with four goals and an assist in an 11-0 Senior Day win over College of the Southwest (NM). She fired 13 shots including nine on goal in the match. In her four-year career at TWU, Clark has 30 goals and 76 points.
Rowland, a senior goalkeeper from Tulsa, OK., recorded her fifth career shutout to earn the Lady Rams’ victory over CSW. She lowered her goals against average to 0.57 on the season and 1.27 in her four-year career with TWU.
The Scorpions defeated 6th seeded Houston-Tillotson 7-0 in RRAC Tournament action today. Candia and Resing combined for seven points on three goals and an assist.
In the second game of the day, #4 Bacone took a 3-1 win over #5 Texas College. The Warriors advance to take on #1 Northwood at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
Texas Wesleyan and UT-Brownsville will kick of the action on TWU’s Martin Field on Friday. Their semifinal game is scheduled for a 12:00 p.m. start.
