WAXAHACHIE, TX:  The Texas Wesleyan University women’s soccer team (6-5-2) improved to 3-0 in Red River Athletic Conference play after pounding Southwestern Assemblies of God University (2-11, 0-5 RRAC) 6-0 on Saturday.

The Rams started the scoring early when Brianna McKernon found Candice Reeves for a goal just seven minutes into the contest.  Christina Zimmerman scored in the 15th minute on an assist from McKernon.  Zimmerman scored again seven minutes later, and Kly Randell found the net just before halftime to give the Lady Rams a 4-0 advantage at the break.

In the second half, Jaqueline Wittman found Randell for a score in the 68th minute.  Reeves scored the final goal on an assist from Randell in the 73rd minute.

For the game the Lady Rams out shot the Lady Lions 29-3.  SAGU’s Melissa Kramer made 22 saves in the contest.  Brittany O’Brien stopped all three shots from the Lions.

“We were dangerous all day today,” said head coach Josh Gibbs, “but we still need to get better at finishing.”

The Lady Rams return to action on Monday, October 8, when they travel to Muskogee, OK, to take on Bacone College.  That game is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. start and will be followed by a men’s game.
