HOBB, NM: The Texas Wesleyan University volleyball team (18-9) played a pair of matches on Saturday. The Rams dropped a 3-1 decision at Lubbock Christian University (17-5), and then traveled to Hobbs where they defeated College of the Southwest (5-6) 3-0.
Against Lubbock Christian, the Rams took game one 30-27, but fell 30-27, 30-23, and 30-22 in the following games. Sandra Ayala led the Rams with 18 kills to go with 17 digs. Erinn Miller finished with 14 kills and 13 digs, while Liz Meng posted 13 kills and 14 digs.
Evoni Darling had 45 assists and 15 digs. Ashley Mock notched a team-high 23 digs.
The Rams topped the Mustangs with scores of 30-19, 30-24, and 30-25. Meng posted 13 kills and 21 digs. Ayala notched 13 kills and 12 digs. Darling had 31 assists and 15 digs, and Ashley Mock racked up 22 digs.
The Rams return to the court on Tuesday, when they host Paul Quinn College in a Red River Athletic Conference match. That contest is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start in the Sid Richardson Center.
