FORT WORTH, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University volleyball team (10-8) split a pair of matches today at the Hughes-Wesleyan Classic. The Lady Rams won the first game they played, defeating Lindsey Wilson (5-9) three games to none (30-23, 30-24, 30-22), and losing to Lubbock Christian (10-3) three games to one (33-35, 30-23, 30-27, 30-28).
Sandra Ayala had 13 kills and 4 aces in the win against Lindsey Wilson. Erinn Miller tallied 10 kills and 4 aces in the match. Liz Meng finished with 10 kills, a solo block and 4 block assists. Evoni Darling also had 33 assists and 11 digs in the match.
The Lubbock Christian match marked the sixth contest in three days for the Lady Rams. Texas Wesleyan went 5-1 in that period. Meng recorded a double-double putting down 20 kills and 17 digs in the game against Lubbock Christian. Darling also had a double-double with 53 assist and 21 digs. Ayala had 21 digs and Miller placed 16 kills in the match.
In other action, College of the Ozarks (7-5) defeated Wayland Baptist (9-7) three games to one (30-20, 30-20, 26-30, 30-12). Lubbock Christian took one from Lindsey Wilson in three games (30-15, 30-21, 30-21). Belhaven (9-9) won both games they played today defeating John Brown (4-8) three games to none (30-28, 30-28, 30-23), and Wayland Baptist in three games (30-24, 30-17, 32-30). College of the Ozarks won their second day, this time from Sterling (5-5) in three games (30-17, 30-13, 30-12). John Brown won its second game in four games against Sterling with scores of 30-18, 19-30, 30-23, and 30-28.
Texas Wesleyan returns to action on Tuesday, when they travel to Bethany, OK, to take on Southern Nazarene University. That match is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start.
