FORT WORTH, TX: Texas Wesleyan University’s Theo Nabassi has been named Red River Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for the first reporting period of the season.
Nabassi, a freshman from Lome, Togo, had an incredible start to his collegiate career. In the Rams season opener against Manhattan Christian he netted the game-tying goal with 1:36 on the clock. That was just a preview of things to come. In the second overtime he knocked in the game-winner with just 15 seconds to play. He followed that performance with a goal against Oklahoma City University.
The Rams are off to a 1-1 start this season. They are currently ranked fifth in the NAIA’s Region VI. Their lone match against a Region VI opponent was a 2-1 overtime loss at the hands of second ranked Oklahoma City University.
The Rams return to action on Friday, September 7, when they host another Sooner Conference foe, Mid-America Christian University. That game is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. and will be preceded by a women’s game.
