Box Score - Game Two FORT WORTH, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University softball team (12-27, 11-7 RRAC) took two games of a double header from the College of the Southwest Mustangs (19-22, 12-8 RRAC) defeating the Mustangs 5-0 in game one and 5-4 in game two.
In game one, the Lady Rams dominated the Lady Mustangs with stealth hitting and flawless defense. Ashley Oldham pitched a complete game three hit shutout and sat down 5 Lady Mustangs.
Lady Rams’ rightfielder Tana Park scored in the first inning off of a throwing error by College of the Southwest third baseman Laura Walp.
In the fourth inning a successful double steal improved the Lady Rams score to 3-0. Another score off an error brought the score to 4-0 Lady Rams.
Wesleyan tacked on one more run in the fifth with an RBI single from Lateah Lucero, taking game one 5-0.
In game two, the Lady Rams got off to a rocky start, giving up three runs in the first inning, including a home run to left field from Walp.
The game continued tied through seven and in the bottom of the eighth with the bases loaded and one away, Elizabeth Brady knocked in the game winning run with a single to left field.
Cami Riley got her first win of the season pitching six and one third innings giving up no runs on four hits with one strike out in the win. The Lady Rams continue conference play as they take on the Texas College Lady Steers on Tuesday, April 22 at 2:00 p.m. at Sycamore Park. |
Ariel Raley and the Lady Rams answered in a big way in the bottom of the third crushing a grand slam to left center to tie the game at four going into the top of the fourth inning.
