Box Score
OKLAHOMA CITY, OK: Playing five games in three days over the weekend caught up with the 17th ranked Texas Wesleyan University baseball team (30-12) in a big way on Tuesday. The 5th ranked Oklahoma City University Stars (41-8) took a 23-6 win at their own Jim Wade Stadium.
Four of the Rams' eight pitchers were going on just one day of rest including starter Kody Thiebaud. The Stars took full advantage, ripping 21 hits and scoring multiple runs in each frame except the second where they managed just one unearned tally.
The Rams actually scored first with a two-run single from Zach Smith in the first inning. Texas Wesleyan got three runs on five hits including an RBI double from Antoine Cole in the fifth and added an RBI single from Brad Henderson in the sixth, but it was not enough to keep up.
Thiebaud (3-2) took the loss after allowing three runs, two earned, on four hits while striking out a pair in two innings pitched. Alec Marsh moved to 5-0 after allowing five runs on six hits while striking out four in five innings of work.
The Rams will get some much needed rest before playing their final Red River Athletic Conference series this weekend. The Rams will host the three-game series with Southwestern Assemblies of God Univeristy, although the Lions will be the home team on the scoreboard in Saturday’s doubleheader. Friday’s series opener is scheduled for a 3:00 p.m. first pitch. |
