FORT WORTH, TX: Texas Wesleyan University’s Ashley Oldham has been named Red River Athletic Conference Softball Player of the Week for the period of March 10-16. Oldham shared the award with Ruby Garza of College of the Southwest.
Oldham, a sophomore pitcher from Watauga, TX, threw a complete-game, two-hit shutout in a 2-0 defeat of Schreiner University (TX). She struck out eight with no walks to earn her second victory of the year. Texas Wesleyan is 4-2 in conference play and 5-14 on the season.
Garza, a sophomore from El Paso, TX, earned a pair of victories last week while allowing just one hit in eight innings of work. She contributed three innings in a combined no-hitter for the Lady Mustangs as they defeated Jarvis Christian College, 21-0, and she hurled a one-hitter for a 9-0 win over Texas College.
Texas Wesleyan returns to action on Wednesday, when they host NCAA Division I Houston Baptist University. Due to field conditions at Sycamore Park, that doubleheader has been moved to Oran Good Park in Farmers Branch, TX. |
