STILLWATER, OK : The Stephen F. Austin State University softball team (15-10) topped Texas Wesleyan University (4-13) 13-2 at Oklahoma State University’s Mizuno Classic on Sunday.
SFA got a three-run homer from Moriah Davis in the first inning. The Rams came back with a two-run single from Taylor wood in the top of the second, but the big inning bit Texas Wesleyan in the third.
The Ladyjacks sent 13 hitters to the plate and scored ten runs on seven hits including a pair of home runs.
Wood (0-3) took the loss after allowing nine runs on five hits and seven walks in 2.1 innings of work. Debra Boles (1-0) tossed all five innings for SFA and allowed two runs on five hits.
Although the Rams went 0-3 in the NCAA Division I tournament this weekend, they did show that they could compete. In three games, Texas Wesleyan scored six runs on 15 hits including five extra-base hits. Senior third baseman Ariel Raley hit .400 (4-for-10) with a double, home run, and two RBI.
Texas Wesleyan will return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Kerville, TX, to take on Schreiner University. Game one of that doubleheader is scheduled for a 4:00 p.m. start. |
