Box Score vs. Oklahoma State
STILLWATER, OK: The Texas Wesleyan University softball team (4-12) fell in their first round contests at Oklahoma State University’s Mizuno Classic. The Rams fell to Centenary College (9-14) 11-4, and the Oklahoma State University Cowgirls (11-10) 9-0.
Against Centenary, two Texas Wesleyan errors led to three Ladies runs in the second inning. Texas Wesleyan came right back in the third with an RBI single from Lindsay Molinar and a two-run homer Ariel Raley.
The Ladies got an RBI double from Haley Bassett in the bottom of the third, but Texas Wesleyan got another home run, this time a solo shot, from Taylor Wood in the fourth inning.
In the bottom of the fourth, Centenary exploded for seven runs on seven hits to pull away for the 11-4 win.
Ashley Oldham (1-5) was tagged with the loss after allowing eight runs, six earned, on seven hits in 3.2 innings pitched. Ryan Thacker (6-5) got the win after allowing one run on four hits, while striking out seven in four innings of relief work.
Raley led the Rams at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBI, a double, and a home run.
Against Oklahoma State, Megan Castle put the Cowgirls on top with a two-out, two-run single in the first inning. OSU got an RBI single from Alysia Hamilton in the second. A two-out, two-run single from Mariah Gearhart highlighted a three-run third, and a two-run double from Samantha Heinlein highlighted a three-run fourth for the Cowgirls.
Rayne Reynolds (1-4) took the loss after allowing six runs on nine hits in 2.2 innings pitched. Amanda Crabtree (6-7) allowed just one-hit while striking out seven in a complete game five-inning performance.
The Rams are back in action tomorrow at the Mizuno Classic. They will take on Stephen F. Austin State University at 10:00 a.m. |
