| FORT WORTH, TX: The 18th ranked Texas Wesleyan University men’s basketball team placed four players on the All-Red River Athletic Conference team.
Dane Dmitrovic and Fred Eshon were named to the first team. Dmitrovic averaged a double-double this season in RRAC competition with 11.3 points and 10.6 rebounds per game. Eshon is the Rams’ leading scorer at 13.8 points per game.
Kennith Gober and Hector Mukweyi were both Honorable Mention selections.
Texas College’s Czyz Bennett was named RRAC Player of the Year after averaging 23.2 points per game. TC’s Jameus Hartsfield took Defensive Player of the Year honors although his Steers finished seventh in the league in scoring defense. Paul Quinn’s Jazz Henderson was named Newcomer of the Year while his coach Tim Bellmon was named Coach of the Year after leading the Tigers to a fourth place finish.
“Our players might not put up the numbers of some other one-dimensional players,” commented Waldrop, whose team led the conference wire-to-wire this season. “Our coaching staff and our kids don’t get much credit in this league, but all our kids do is win. I couldn’t be more proud of my guys.”
The top-seeded Rams have advanced to Friday’s semifinal where they will meet fifth seeded Langston University. That game will be played at 1:00 p.m. at SAGU’s Full Life Center. |
