HOBBS, NM:  The Texas Wesleyan University softball team (1-4, 1-1 RRAC) split a Red River Athletic Conference doubleheader with College of the Southwest (3-5, 1-1) on Monday.  The Rams fell 10-9 in game one and took a 4-3 win in game two.

Prior to the game, Ashley Tarrant was named Red River Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week for the period of February 11-17.  Tarrant, a freshman from Martin’s Mill, TX, made her first two collegiate pitching appearances and did not allow an earned run in a pair of Lady Rams’ losses. She struck out two hitters and walked three in the two games.

In game one, the Rams put six runs on the board in the first inning highlighted by an inside the park grand slam from Alyssa Cherry.  The Mustangs scored three in the bottom of the first and seven in the third inning.

Texas Wesleyan got single runs in the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings but fell just short.

Ashley Oldham (0-3) took the loss after allowing three runs, one earned, on six hits in 4.1 innings of relief work.

Lindsey Molinar went 3-for-3 at the plate with two runs scored and a stolen base.  Brooke McNabb went 2-for-3 with a double.

The Rams struck early in game two as well.  Texas Wesleyan plated all four of its runs in the first inning.

Rayne Reynolds (1-0) made that stand up for the win.  Reynolds allowed three runs, all in the fourth inning, on five hits while striking out three in seven innings of work.

Molinar added another multi-hit performance, going 2-for-4.  Elizabeth Brady was 2-for-3 in game two.

The Lady Rams will return to action when they compete in this weekend’s Cowtown Classic.  They will begin play with a contest against the University of Science & Arts (OK) at 10:00 a.m.
