FIRST HALF SINKS LADY RAMS
November 7, 2006

Box Score

PLAINVIEW, TX:  The Texas Wesleyan University women’s basketball team (1-2) could not overcome a poor first half performance against Wayland Baptist University (1-0) on Tuesday.  The Flying Queens handed the Lady Rams a 79-49 loss.

In the second half, Texas Wesleyan matched Wayland Baptist’s 40 points and 18 rebounds while turning the ball over just eight times.  Unfortunately that was not enough to overcome a first half in which the Lady Rams shot just 8% from the field and committed 14 turnovers.

Pilar Pinkus led the Lady Rams with 14 points in just 12 minutes of playing time.  Nastassia Brown added 11 points and six rebounds.

Five Flying Queens scored in double-figures led by Katie Donaldson and Miki Mays who each finished with 14 points.

For the game, WBU out shot Texas Wesleyan 55%-30%.  WBU also scored 27 points from long range while the Lady Rams shot just 1-11 from the three-point arc.

A disappointed head coach Stacy Francis said she had never experience a half like the Lady Rams went through tonight.  She went on to say that in the second half, “We came out aggressively.  We attacked, ran the offense, and executed on defense.”

The Lady Rams will look for more consistency when they return to the court on Saturday, November 11.  They will be taking on Abilene Christian University at 6:00 p.m. in Abilene, TX.
