TYLER, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University women’s volleyball team improved to 17-7 overall and 7-2 in conference play with a pair of wins on Saturday. The Lady Rams defeated Wiley College in Marshall, TX, 3-0 (30-14, 30-13, 30-25) and then traveled to Tyler where they defeated Texas College 3-0 (30-13, 30-13, 30-16).
Against Wiley, Sandra Ayala led the way with 14 kills while Ashley Mock added seven. Jessica Colliau had 13 digs while Lauren Hackney finished with 10. Jennifer Irwin just missed a double-double with 22 assists and nine digs.
Against Texas College, Erinn Miller’s 13 kills paced the team while Destiny Clemons pitched in 11. Clemons also led the team with five blocks. Lauren Weems had 12 digs, and Jennifer Irwin had 25 assists.
The Lady Rams will return to the Sid Richardson Center this week. They will host Southwestern Assemblies of God University on Tuesday. The Lions are directly ahead of the Rams in the conference standings at 6-1 in RRAC play. That match is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. |
