FORT WORTH, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University volleyball team (14-7, 4-2 RRAC) got back in the win column on Saturday. The Rams defeated Huston-Tillotson (3-23, 2-4) with scores of 30-16, 30-23, and 30-21 in the Sid Richardson Center.
The Rams dominated game one, leading throughout. Texas Wesleyan jumped out to a 15-5 win and rolled to the 30-16 win. Huston-Tillotson made things interesting in game two. The game was tied as late as 18-18 before Texas Wesleyan closed it out on a 12-5 run. In the final game, the Lady Rams used a 6-0 run to gain control at 12-6. That cushion was the difference as Texas Wesleyan prevailed 30-21.
Liz Meng led the Rams with 15 kills and six blocks. Sandra Ayala added 11 kills and eight digs. Jennifer Irwin had 24 assists while Jazmin Ayala added 16 of her own.
The Rams return to the Sid Richardson center when they host Jarvis Christian College in Red River Athletic Conference action on Friday, October 20. That match is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. |
