FORT WORTH, TX: Megan Neale tossed 14 shutout innings to lead her Bacone College softball team (12-10, 10-4 RRAC) to a doubleheader sweep of Texas Wesleyan (10-19, 3-7). The Warriors took game on 5-0 and game two 4-0.
In game one, Ashley Oldham nearly matched Neale pitch for pitch. Oldham allowed an unearned run in the first and a solo homer in the fourth and the Rams trailed just 2-0 going into the seventh.
However, Bacone plated three runs on four hits in the seventh to seal the 5-0 win.
Oldham (5-4) allowed five runs, four earned, on nine hits in 6.2 innings of work. Ariel Raley, Alicia Mendoza, and Elizabeth Brady accounted for Texas Wesleyan’s three hits.
Game two was more of the same as Neale allowed just four hits while Sally Pennington delivered all of the offense with a grand slam home run in the fifth inning.
Michelle Jones (2-6) allowed four runs on nine hits while striking out five in five innings pitched. Brady led the Rams with two of their four hits at the plate.
For the day, Neale (6-6) allowed seven hits and struck out 19 in 14 innings pitch.
The Lady Rams return to action on Tuesday, when they host Tarleton State University at Sycamore Park. Game one is scheduled to start at 1:00 p.m. |
