LADY RAMS WIN A PAIR
March 13, 2007

Box Score - Game One

Box Score - Game Two

FORT WORTH, TX:  The Texas Wesleyan University softball team (5-14) needed just three hours and fifteen minutes to sweep a doubleheader form Park University (6-4) at Sycamore Park on Tuesday.  The Lady Rams won game one 9-1 in five innings and took game two 6-1 in a rain-shortened five innings.

Tara Sharp led off the second with a single and scored the day’s first run on a single from Angel Castro.  In the fourth, Texas Wesleyan scored three runs with two outs.  The big blow came from Lindsey Molinar who ripped a two-run double into the corner in right field.

In the fifth, Nicole Betz singled and later scored for Park to bring the score to 4-1, but the Lady Rams plated five runs on five hits, including a walk-off two-run double from Brooke McNabb in the bottom of the inning.

Michelle Jones (1-4) was outstanding for Texas Wesleyan, allowing just one run while scattering five hits and striking out five in five innings pitched.

McNabb led the way at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI while Molinar added two hits and three RBI.

In game two, Molinar led off the first inning with a walk, and Ariel Raley delivered her fourth home run of the year to give Texas Wesleyan a 2-0 lead.

Meanwhile, Jones picked up where she left off, retiring six of the first seven hitters she faced.  In the top of the third, the Pirates got runners to second and third with one out, but Ashley Oldham came on to shut the door with just one run scoring.

In the fourth, the Rams got an RBI single from Alicia Mendoza and an RBI double from Jazmine Boss who later scored on an error to bring the score to 6-1.

Rain began to fall in the fifth inning, and the game was called due to rain and lightning in the bottom of the fifth.

Oldham (3-2) picked up the win after recording the final eight outs of the game in succession.  Molinar and Boss were both 2-for-2 at the plate.

Texas Wesleyan will return to action this weekend when they host Langston University in Red River Athletic Conference play on Saturday.  Game one of that doubleheader is scheduled to start at 1:00 p.m.
