SAN DIEGO, CA: The 12th ranked Texas Wesleyan University men’s golf team opened the spring semester at the Point Loma/Smee Builders Invitational at Steele Canyon Golf Club. After two rounds the Rams sit in sixth place with one round to play on Tuesday.
Wayland Baptist University led the field with a first round 286, but CSU-Stanislaus rallied to tie the Pioneers with a second round 291. Both teams sit at 582 through 36 holes. CSUS’s Eric Justesen turned in the day’s top score at 139 (69, 70).
The Rams were led by Ryan Stephens and Mitch Hendon. Stephens shot 72, 73-145 and is tied for sixth overall. Hendon shot 74, 74-148 to tie for 13th. Kevin Doskocil rebounded from a first round 80 to shoot 73 in the second round. Dan Hahn (T58) shot 159, and Justin Smith (T64) 161 to round out the Rams scores.
