OKLAHOMA CITY, OK: The Texas Wesleyan University baseball team (6-2) dropped a 13-2 decision to Oklahoma City University (11-1) on Tuesday.
The Rams grabbed an early lead when Jason Diaz ripped a leadoff single, stole second, advanced to third on a ground out from Brandon Frazier and scored on a single up the middle from Josh Vander Hey.
Texas Wesleyan moved ahead 2-0 in the third with the same combination. This time Diaz singled with one out, advanced to second on a ground out from Frazier, and scored on a single to right from Vander Hey.
Unfortunately, things unraveled in the fourth. The Stars plated nine runs on seven hits in a frame highlighted by a three run homer from Brandon Harrigan and a bases clearing double from Ryan Rachal.
A grand slam off the bat of Landon Camp in the bottom of the seventh ended the game early as the Stars took the 13-2 win.
Aaron Wimpee was a bright spot on the mound for Texas Wesleyan. The junior right-hander tossed two scoreless innings, allowing just two hits.
Diaz went 2-for-4 with two runs scored while Vander Hey went 2-for-3 with 2 RBI.
The Rams will return to action on Saturday, February 24, when they host the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma. Game one of that doubleheader is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m. |
