FORT WORTH, TX: Texas Wesleyan University’s Josh Vander Hey was named Red River Athletic Conference Baseball Co-Player of the Week for the period of February 12-18. The junior catcher shared the award with Logan Stinson of Bacone College.
Vander Hey, a junior from Cypress, TX, hit .538 (7-for-13) and racked up 10 RBI as Texas Wesleyan swept a pair of doubleheaders from Jarvis Christian College and Oklahoma Baptist University. His triple, grand slam, and five RBI were the diference in a 10-4 win in the opener against #28 OBU. Vander Hey also went 2-for-2 with a pair of RBI in a 14-3 win over Jarvis.
Stinson, a junior catcher and third baseban from Muskogee, OK, cracked three home runs and drove in eight while leading the Warriors to a 3-1 record last week.
The Rams will return to Tuesday afternoon when they travel to Oklahoma City, OK, for a doubleheader against fourth ranked Oklahoma City University. |
