HIGGINBOTHAM NAMED RRAC P.O.W.

FORT WORTH, TX:  For the second time this season, Texas Wesleyan University’s CJ Higginbotham has been named Red River Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week.  Higginbotham shared the honor with Houston Baptist’s Matt Autenrieth.

Higginbotham, a senior guard from Little Elm, TX, led the Rams in scoring in both of their victories last week. In an 82-62 victory over Texas College, he only missed two shots from the field and made 4-of-5 three-point attempts to post 22 points. Against SAGU, he delivered 19 points, seven boards and four assists in an 83-55 win. After leading the Rams with 22 points in an 80-56 win over Paul Quinn on Monday, Higginbotham ranks among the nation’s leaders with 3.25 three-point baskets per game and a three-point shooting percentage of 47.6%.

The ninth ranked Rams now own a record of 10-3 overall and 3-0 in conference play.

Autenrieth, a senior center from West Columbia, TX, averaged 15.5 points and 11.5 rebounds in a 2-0 week for HBU.  The 19th ranked Huskies stand at 11-2 overall and 5-0 in RRAC play.

Texas Wesleyan and Houston Baptist will meet this weekend in Fort Worth.  The #9 Rams and #19 Huskies will square off in the Sid Richardson Center on Saturday.  That game is scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off.
