FORT WORTH, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University women’s soccer team (6-3) took a 2-1 win over East Texas Baptist University (3-3-1) at Martin Field on Wednesday.
The Tiger’s Janna Wilson started the scoring with 13:31 remaining in the first half, but Texas Wesleyan’s Loren Clark leveled the score just two minute’s later. With just under seven minutes to go in the half, Mayra Torres found Nicole Richardson who netted the game winner.
The Rams’ defense tightened in the second half allowing just two shots. On the game, the Rams out shot the Tigers 30-10.
“We struggled to get the ball out and that led to some opportunities for them,” said Head Coach Steve Jones. “We got a lot of opportunities, but we need to learn to finish those opportunities.”
The Lady Rams will return to action on Friday, September 30, when they host Texas College in a Red River Athletic Conference match. That game is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m. and will be followed by a men’s game.
