DALLAS, TX: The Red River Athletic Conference announced today that Susan Taylor of Texas Wesleyan University was selected as the RRAC women’s volleyball Libero of the Week for October 3-9. Tricia Culley of College of the Southwest (NM) was named the Player of the Week, and Sydney Haisler of Huston-Tillotson University (TX) earned recognition as the Setter of the Week.
Taylor, a senior libero from Southlake, Texas, helped the NAIA’s 13th-ranked team to a 2-0 week. In TWU’s victory over Wayland Baptist University (TX), she accounted for 23 digs, one assist and one ace. With those 23 digs, Taylor became the all-time leader in career digs at Texas Wesleyan. She surpassed Carmen Biel’s mark of 1,789 and pushed that record to 1,799.
The Rams are currently 15-3 on the year and 8-0 in the conference. They will return to action on Friday when they host UT-Permian Basin in an RRAC match. That match is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. in the Sid Richardson Center and takes on special importance, as the Lady Rams will attempt to match the school record for consecutive game wins. The Lady Rams have not dropped a game in their last 13 matches and are just three shy of tying the record of 42 set last season.
