MUSKOGEE, OK: The Texas Wesleyan University women’s soccer team (8-3, 3-0 RRAC) took a 4-0 win over Bacone College (1-6-3, 0-1) on Thursday.
The Rams dominated the contest from the start, and held the Warriors without a shot in the first half. However, Texas Wesleyan was unable to score for much of the first half. With 6:27 remaining in the half, Lauren Clark found Mayra Torres for a score, and the Rams went to the break with a 1-0 lead.
In the second half, the offense got on track. In the 51st minute Clark scored on an assist from Shannah Bohon. Aubrey Rice and Brianna McKernon each scored late in the contest for the 4-0 final.
Holly Rowland and Kara Liakos combined for the shutout in goal for the Rams. On the game, Texas Wesleyan out shot Bacone 13-4.
“We were dominant today,” said Head Coach Steve Jones. “We struggled in the box in the first half, but we kept at it. It is always good to get a win on the road.”
The Lady Rams, ranked 4th in Region VI, will return to action on Saturday when the travel to Edmond, OK, to take on 5th ranked Oklahoma Christian University. That game is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m. and will be followed by a men’s game.
