FIVE LADY RAMS NAMED ALL-RRAC
May 8, 2006

DALLAS, TX:  The Red River Athletic Conference has announced the members of the 2006 All-Conference Softball Team.  Five member of the Texas Wesleyan University team were among those honored matching an all-time high for the program.

The trio of players who led the conference in home runs, while helping the Rams hit an NAIA record 66 homers, were each selected to the team.  Marie Stone ranked third in the conference with 14 home runs, second with 64 hits and a .430 AVG, and was tied for the conference lead with 54 runs scored, and was named RRAC Co-Player of the Year with Northwood University’s Kayla Maddox and UT-Permian Basin’s Sasha Waggoner.

Tara Sharp led the conference with a Texas Wesleyan record 18 home runs, while Rachel Hampton’s 16 homers gave her a Texas Wesleyan career record 30 long balls.  Hampton also drove in an RRAC best and Texas Wesleyan record 61 runs.  Both were named to the All-RRAC team.

In addition, Ariel Raley and Rachel Lamont were selected.  Raley matched Stone’s 54 runs while cracking a conference best 68 hits.  She also hit .409 with 7 home runs.  Lamont led the Texas Wesleyan staff with a 2.95 ERA and 8.1 strikeouts per inning pitched.
