KNIGHTS RALLY TWICE TO TAKE SERIES
April 8, 2006

CEDAR HILL, TX:  The Texas Wesleyan University baseball team (15-16, 1-5 RRAC) suffered a pair of heartbreaking losses against Northwood University (23-17, 8-1) on Saturday.  The Knights rallied in their last at bat to take a 6-5 win in game one and had to score again in their final at bat in game two to take a 4-3 win.

In game one, Texas Wesleyan plated three runs on three hits including a two-run double from Brandon Frazier to take a 5-4 lead in the ninth.

However, the Knights responded with a two-run single off the bat of Randy Sykes to win the game in with one out in the ninth.

Caleb Thomas (1-4) suffered the loss after allowing four runs on three hits in 1.1 innings of work.  Greg Kalldin tossed all nine and allowed five runs (two earned) on ten hits to earn the win.

Jeff Piaskowski and Billie Hicks each recorded a pair of hits for the Rams while Sykes went 5-5 with 3 RBI for the Knights.

In game two, a first inning homer from Travis Clifford, an RBI single from Frazier in the third, and an RBI single from Piaskowski in the fifth gave Texas Wesleyan a 3-1 lead.

Northwood tied the game with a two-run single from Jay Ylda in the bottom of the fifth.  In the bottom of the seventh, the Knights loaded the bases with one out, and Bryan Root ended the game with an RBI single.

Jason Hopson (3-4) took the loss after allowing four runs (two earned) on five hits in 6.1 innings pitched.  George Castillo earned the win with 2.2 scoreless innings of relief.

Zach Archer went 3-4 in game two while Frazier and Clifford each added a pair of hits.

Texas Wesleyan will return to action on Monday, when they travel to Marshall, TX, to take on East Texas Baptist University.  That game is scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m.
