OKLAHOMA
CITY, Okla. - The Texas Wesleyan golf team finished third in the River Oaks
Intercollegiate at the River Oaks Country Club Tuesday afternoon.
Texas
Wesleyan (298-290-298=886) finished 43 strokes behind tournament-winner Oklahoma
City who shot a nine-under, 843 for the three-round event. The Rams also finished
seven strokes back of tournament-host Oklahoma Christian (292-291-296=879).
"This
wasn't our strongest showing, but we play in one of the toughest regions in the
country," head coach Kevin Millikan said. "This is probably the toughest
field we will have to play against during the regular season. We know we will
have to beat these teams at some point."
Sophomore
Reino Deetlefs (74-67-73=214) continued to impress, finishing in fourth place
at one-over par.
"Reino had another
solid tournament," Millikan said. "To finish fourth in a field like
this is an accomplishment. He is making a strong bid for All-America."
Also
competing for Texas Wesleyan were, freshman Justin Smith (76-72-76=224) who finished
tied for 18th, junior Euan McIntsoh (72-80-73=225) who finished tied for 21st,
freshman Scott Sikes (76-76-76=228) who finished tied for 30th and freshman Dan

Invitational. The 54-hole event will take place in Lubbock, Texas.
