FORT WORTH, Texas - The Texas Wesleyan
baseball team took both games of its doubleheader against Northpark
University Friday afternoon at LaGrave Field. The Rams won game
one, 6-0, and took the second game, 12-3.
In
game one, Ram starting pitcher, freshman Drew Jeffcoat (3-0) pitched
five shutout innings, allowing only one hit and striking out five
batters.
Senior Derek Armstrong helped lead the
Ram attack going 2-for-3 and driving in two runners. Sophomore Matt
Putman started the scoring off with his first home run of the season,
a solo shot in to the left-field bleachers.
In game two, Texas Wesleyan (9-9) continued
to swing its hot bats, scattering 16 hits in their victory against
the Vikings (1-8).
Ram starting pitcher, sophomore Shea Harrison
(2-1), allowed only one unearned run on five hits while striking
out three batters.
Derek Armstrong went 3-for-3 for the Rams
with two doubles, three RBI, and scoring three times. Senior Trey
Combs and freshman Corey Stansell both drove in two runners each
as Texas Wesleyan cruised to an easy victory.
Texas Wesleyan will be back in action tomorrow,
when they host Northpark University again at LaGrave Field, at 12
p.m.
