FORT WORTH, Texas- The Texas
Wesleyan men's soccer team will look to advance in post-season play
Wednesday when they host rival Northwood in the Red River Athletic
Conference semifinals at Martin Field. This is the first Red River
Conference men's soccer playoff game Texas Wesleyan University will
participate in after the transition to NAIA in 2002.
Texas Wesleyan (12-5-1, 6-1-1 RRAC) finished
the regular season on a hot streak winning its last four matches.
They come into Wednesday's match as the No. 2 seed in the tournament.
Northwood (8-10-1, 5-3 RRAC) enters the
postseason as the No. 3 seed, after winning its final game of the
season against Southwest Assemblies of God.
Texas Wesleyan defeated Northwood, 2-1,
on Oct. 22, in Cedar Hill. The Rams hold the all-time series advantage,
2-1.
"Northwood is a very good team,"
head coach Steve Jones said. "They played us tough at their
place. I am glad this one is own our turf. Our guys have been playing
brilliantly the last four games and we are looking for that trend
to continue."
Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. at Martin Field,
on the corner of Collard St. and Lancaster Rd. Admission is free.
