FORT WORTH, Texas - Sophomore Nathan Mutchler scored two goals
to lead Texas Wesleyan
past Mary-Hardin Baylor, 5-0, Tuesday afternoon at Martin Field.
The Rams poured in three goals in the first
36 minutes, with Mutchler netting two of them on assists from freshman
Christian Villasenor and sophomore Jose Melendez. Villasenor added
the third goal to put the Rams up 3-0 at halftime.
"We started out strong, putting pressure
on their goal from the start," head coach Steve Jones said.
"After a few of our shots hit the crossbar, we started to find
the back of the net. We were able to finish with ease the rest of
the afternoon."
In the second half, freshman Mark Puente
and Rene Mercado capped off the scoring.
Mary-Hardin Baylor (1-6) was only able
to get off nine shots compared to 17 for Texas Wesleyan.
The Rams will be back in action Friday,
when they travel to take on St. Gregory's at 4 p.m.
