WHITNEY, Texas - Future Texas
Wesleyan golfer Kevin Doskocil shot a 75 Thursday afternoon at the
White Bluff Resort to qualify for the 35th Annual Texas State Open.
Doskocil, who has committed to play for
Wesleyan this fall, is a native of Hillsboro, Texas. His 75 was
three-over par and good enough to tie him for third place in the
qualifying tournament. Doskocil's prep record is not too shabby
either. He was the Texas 3A UIL state runner-up this spring, playing
for Hillsboro High School, and he also finished second in the Starburst
Junior Classic this summer.
"We are very pleased to have Kevin
joining the squad this fall," head coach Kevin Millikan said.
"He is very talented and a dedicated young man and I expect
he will make an immediate impact for us."
Doskocil is one of only 11 amateurs to
qualify for this year's Texas State Open. Approximately 130 players
are in this year's field.
The 2005 Texas State Open will take place
July 12-15, at the White Bluff Resort (New Course) in Whitney, Texas.
