OLATHE, Kan. - The Texas
Wesleyan golf team shot a final-round 301 to finish in fifth place in the 2005
NAIA National Golf Championship Friday afternoon at the Prairie Highlands Golf
Course.
Texas Wesleyan (296-293-287-301-1177) shot a
13-over par round today to fall to the fifth slot in the tournament. They finished
in fifth place last year as well. They just two shots back of Point Loma Nazarene
who finished in fourth place. Johnson and Wales (281-282-278-292-1133) took home
the championship, finishing 19-under par. Sophomore
Scott Sikes (73-69-74-72-288) led the Rams, finishing tied for seventh and was
named to the all-tournament team. Sikes was also named NAIA All-America for his
season. Senior Justin Ward (72-75-74-72-293) finished tied for 15th and was also
named to the all-tournament team. Junior Reino Deetlefs (72-73-72-79-296) finished
tied for 23rd and was also named NAIA All-America for his season. Sophomores Justin
Smith (79-76-70-79-304) finished tied for 64th and Dan Hahn (80-78-71-78-307)
finished tied for 84th. The Rams will be
back in action Friday for the fourth and final round of the 2005 NAIA National
