One Box Score Game Two
FORT
WORTH, Texas - The Texas Wesleyan baseball team lost both games of doubleheader
to Southern Arkansas Tuesday afternoon at LaGrave Field. Southern Arkansas blasted
the Rams in game one, 18-4, and took the second game 9-4.
In
game one Southern Arkansas (28-19) could do no wrong, scoring in each of the first
four innings, which included an 11-spot in the third inning.
Texas
Wesleyan (25-14) was able to scratch four runs during the game. Shortstop led
off the first inning with a home run to left field. Designated hitter Jarod Baker
had a RBI-single, while third baseman Nathan Brandt and first baseman Brad Henderson
both drove in a run. Brandt entered the game in the fourth inning and went 3-for-3
in the opening game.
In game two, the Muleriders
scored five runs in the third inning to jump out to yet another early lead. Southern
Arkansas would add another run in the fourth inning to increase its lead to 6-0.
The
Rams fought back with three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. Second baseman
Dan Bruce and leftfielder Zach Archer both had RBI-singles and catcher Kent Russell
added a RBI-ground out.
Southern Arkansas
put one run on the board in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings.
Texas
Wesleyan was able to score just one more run as they were swept by the Muleriders.
First
baseman Travis Clifford went 3-for-4 for the Rams with a RBI in the second game,
while Archer finished 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Texas
Wesleyan will be back in action Wednesday when it travels to take on Henderson
State (Ark.). The doubleheader is set to begin at 2 p.m.
