     Fort Worth, Texas -
Pitcher Shea Harrison struck out a season high nine batters as Texas Wesleyan (25-12, 8-1 in RRAC) defeated conference rival Southwestern Assemblies of God University (10-18-1, 1-5 in RRAC) 8-1 and 11-3.

After a shaky outing against Northwood the previous weekend, Harrison dominated the Lions, throwing six and two thirds innings without a single earned run. The win moved Harrison to 6-2 on the year with 48 strikeouts in 42.2 innings of work. Harrison also struck out nine against Bacone College on March 19th.

Travis Clifford continued his assault on small round objects, mashing a two run shot over the leftfield bleachers in the sixth. The tough first baseman struck again in the second game, blowing the game wide open with a grand slam in the fourth inning. Clifford finished the three game series with three homeruns, a double, and eight runs batted in. He also extended his hitting streak, dating back to March 16th, to sixteen games.

Third baseman Jason Vaughn also expanded his hitting streak to 13 games, going three for eight with a double in the first game and a single and triple in the second contest. Vaughn is now hitting .378 on the year.

Leadoff man Billie Hicks scored four runs while walking four times. He also homered to lead off the seventh inning of game two.

In addition to hitting three singles, sophomore Jason Diaz was carried off the field on the shoulders of several teammates and head coach Mike Jeffcoat after making a diving catch to end the Lion’s half of the sixth inning.

David Hinson started the second game, and pitched six effective innings. He struck out two, walked none, and gave up two earned runs. The win moved Hinson to 6-3 on the year. Texas Wesleyan is now 7-3 in games started by the senior righty.

The Rams travel east to take on Southern Arkansas and Henderson State Tuesday and Wednesday. The team will return to the friendly confines of LaGrave Field to play RRAC foe UT-Permian Basin in a three game series Friday and Saturday April 15th and 16th. First pitch of Friday’s contest is 3 p.m. The Saturday doubleheader gets started at noon.
