Okla. - The Texas Wesleyan men's golf team fired an opening-round 298 to finish
day one tied for third place in The Territory Classic Monday afternoon at the
Territory Club.
"We struggled on the greens today,"
head coach Kevin Millikan said. "This is a great golf course. We hope we
can learn from today's mistakes and limit them in tomorrow's round."
Sophomore Dan Hahn led the Rams, firing an opening-round
72. The Denver, Colo. Native is currently tied for fifth place in the tournament.
Also competing for the Rams were sophomore Scott
Sikes and senior Euan McIntosh who both shot 75, junior Reino Deetlefs, who registered
a 76 and sophomore Justin Smith who tallied a 79. "In
order to get back into contention this week, we need make more putts," Millikan
said. "This course is layed out where you have to capitalize when you have
the chance. The Rams will be back in action
on Tuesday when they play the final round of the Territory Classic, hosted by
Cameron University.
