GOODYEAR, Ariz. - The Texas Wesleyan
golf team fired rounds of 295-286-581 on Monday and is in fourth
place at the Grand Canyon Fall Invitational at the Estrella Mountain
Ranch Golf Club.
The final round is scheduled for Tuesday
on the Par-72, 7,102-yard course.
Wesleyan was paced by sophomore Scott Sikes, who is in second place
in the individual standings with a seven-under-par total of 69-68-137.
"This golf course suits Scott well,"
head coach Kevin Millikan said. "His tactics were great. He
really loves playing this course."
CSU-San Bernadino's Robert Mink leads with
a 69-66-135 total, and CSU-Bakersfield leads all teams with a 284-281-565
total.
Wesleyan senior Justin Ward is tied for
28th (75-72-147), senior Euan McIntosh is tied for tied for 33rd
(75-73-148), junior Reino Deetlefs is tied for 41st (76-74-150)
and sophomore Dan Hahn is tied for 71st (82-73-155).
"The guys really played well today,"
Millikan said. "They had a rough start and dealt with a lot
of adversity, but they stayed mentally tough and finished well."
