FORT WORTH, TX:  The Texas Wesleyan University women’s soccer team remained undefeated in Red River Athletic Conference play with a 5-0 win over Texas College on Friday at Martin Field.  With the win, the Lady Rams improved to 2-0 in the RRAC (7-3 overall) while Texas College fell to 1-2 (1-3).

The Lady Rams controlled the ball throughout the contest and unleashed a barrage of 47 shots.  Jessica Carrion wasted little time getting Texas Wesleyan on the board with her first of a pair of goals in the 6th minute.  Nicole Richardson added a goal in the 11th minute off a corner kick from Brianna McKernon and Leslie Tabor scored just four minutes later to give the Rams a 3-0 cushion.  They would lead 4-0 at halftime on their way to the 5-0 win.

The Steers’ goalkeeper, Lauren Steigman, recorded 21 saves to keep her team alive.  Carrion’s two goals led the Rams’ offense while Mayra Torres and McKernon each had a pair of assists.

“Their keeper made some nice saves, but we were able to take care of business in the first half,” said Head Coach Steve Jones.”

The Lady Rams will return to action on October 7 when they travel to Muskogee, OK, to take on Bacone College.  That match is scheduled to start at 2:00 and will be followed by a men’s game.
